My Safety Garden is a place where I share stories of travel, love, loss, creativity, growth, and the often messy process of figuring out life in my twenties. Think of it as the garden of my mind, some thoughts are fully bloomed, others are still seeds. Here you’ll find reflections, poems, lessons, adventures, and honest conversations about building a meaningful life between Belgium and Australia.

Travel

Get to know the places that have shaped me. On this page, I’ll share stories from both the Belgian traveller and the Aussie traveller versions of myself; the adventures, mishaps, lessons, and moments that changed me along the way. It’s been a beautiful, nerve-wracking, and unforgettable journey so far.

Teaching

Working with children, specifically preschoolers has been a huge part of my life for the last 8 years. Being a teacher (but also a role model, a second “parent” and a mentor) is not just a normal job. It is something you carry with you when you go home; their stories, worries, needs. At this point, it’s not about the knowledge you have anymore, but about your emotional availability and resilience. Teaching has shifted over the last decade (even I as a young teacher, can feel this). Emotional intelligence has become the foundation of modern teaching!
